As the co-founder and creative director of MAJA MERCADO, I’m thrilled to share with you our remarkable journey. We have made incredible strides from our humble beginnings in July 2022 to today, where we organize vibrant events that captivate audiences and foster community.
The Spark of Inspiration
The idea for MAJA MERCADO was born out of a shared passion for art and gastronomy. My co-founder, Maxime, and I envisioned a platform that could showcase local artisans’ creativity while providing unforgettable experiences. We aimed to create more than just an event – we wanted to cultivate a community of like-minded individuals who appreciate art, culture, and shared experiences.
From Vision to Reality
In just one year, our vision has materialized in ways we could only dream of. Our inaugural intimate Sunday gathering in Amsterdam has since expanded to accommodate over 30 exhibitors at each event. We’ve had the privilege to host our events in unique settings, from the charming churches and lush Vondelpark in Amsterdam to Jardin 21 in Paris.
We are grateful to everyone who played a part in our journey. The talented artists, the welcoming venues, our tireless team, and of course, the enthusiastic attendees – each of you helped make MAJA MERCADO the vibrant and thriving community it is today.
Embedding Sustainability and Craftsmanship
As we grew, so did our responsibility to our community and the planet. Sustainability is at the heart of MAJA MERCADO. We partner with artisans who embody traditional craftsmanship and uphold the principles of sustainable and ethical production. By promoting these artisans, we not only highlight their unique talents but also contribute to an economy that respects people and the planet.
Taking the Leap Abroad
Our success in Amsterdam fueled our ambition to take MAJA MERCADO beyond the Dutch borders. We were thrilled to host our first international event in Paris this summer, an important milestone in our growth. As we plan for our future, we are excited about the prospect of expanding to Lisbon and Barcelona. We aim to curate events that capture each city’s unique spirit while staying true to our ethos of celebrating art, music, and culture.

The future for MAJA MERCADO looks promising as we continue to evolve and adapt to new challenges and opportunities. Our aim is to create immersive experiences that resonate with both locals and visitors. We are also committed to amplifying the voices of artisans, musicians, and creatives, and showcasing the best of local talent.
